This print is beautiful. It's a commonly depicted subject, but it is very special. The composition, tonal quality, and movement are exceptional and evocative. The piece is true to it's title... breathtaking!

About Steve Harrington
I am a retired professor at a college in Toronto and taught critical thinking and communications. In the past I also taught literature, creative thinking and problem solving. I've also had the opportunity to teach about and lead tours to a variety of world destinations including backpacking through the Canadian Rockies, traveling above the Arctic Circle in Norway, into the Sahara in Morocco, and throughout Southeast Asia with a special focus on Thailand. It was my four tours to India that formed me most profoundly, both as a person and as a photographer. It is a magic land of extremes in every sense of the word. Hello Steve! When I was young, my father used to tell us stories about his adventures when he vagabonded around the world from 1929-1930. He worked his way, included on ships, as he had almost no money. One of the things he told us about was participating in this ritual and I am sure he would have mentioned Ghats, though I am not sure. He lived to age 95 so I guess it did not "hurt" him! Thank you for helping me remember his stories. A f/v. Kirsten
